MT.Gox set a new deadline for submitting applications for compensation

Creditors of the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange MT.GOX should register in a special online system to receive compensation until January 10, 2023, according to the new document.

Users need to submit information about the recipient and choose a payment method. For victims who will not have time to provide all the necessary data, compensation will postpone.

A specific date or at least approximate payments are not specified. According to The Block source, compensation will begin to translate before the end of 2023.

Recall that the once largest bitcoin-foreign mt.Gox crashed in early 2014. This happened after the information appeared about its alleged hacking and theft of 800,000 BTC ($ 480 million at that time).

The process of civil rehabilitation was launched in 2018.

In 2020, the trustee MT.Gox Nobuyaki Kobayashi filed a plan https://gagarin.news/news/ethereum-staking-is-coinbase-out-of-the-game/ for reimbursing funds to creditors to the court of Tokyo, who approved the document. At that time, 137 891 btc was stored on the platform wallet.

In August 2022, MT creditors.Gox denied rumors about reimbursement of funds within the framework of the civil rehabilitation process.
